consul general awards dinner

honoring UK and US business success in the Carolinas

One of our most prestigious events of the calendar year is the British Consul General Awards Dinner.

Since 1997 BABC Carolinas has hosted the British Consul General awards ceremony to recognize outstanding contributions in support of bilateral trade and investment between the U.S. and U.K. throughout North and South Carolina.

Attracting over 300 guests annually, including some of the regions top executives, government officials and VIP’s, this black-tie event begins with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and a keynote address by a prominent business leader, U.S. and/or U.K. government official or diplomat. The evening concludes with the presentation of two awards – U.K. company investing in the U.S. (specifically in the Carolinas) and U.S. company investing the U.K., presented by the currently appointed British Consul General in Atlanta.

The role of the Consul General is to maintain and develop relations between the U.K. and the U.S., providing consular, visa and trade and investment services, including, political, commercial, security and economic questions of interest about the U.K. and their assigned U.S. region. There are nine Consulates located throughout the U.S. – Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC.

The British Consulate General – Atlanta, covers the six state regions of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Consul General is the senior U.K. official in the Consulate General, which is a subordinate office to the Embassy.
